Juniors Kempo Ju Jitsu

Our junior class is for children aged from 4½ to 13 yrs old.  At which point they switch to the seniors class.  All children at the extreme ends of the age range will be assessed for suitability for the class.  Some 12 or 13 year olds may be physically too big for this class and will be invited to join on of the Senior classes (which the teens to progress to).  The classes are mixed ability and age and are taught either as partner work or in small groups.

The syllabus is a Merit Badge system.  When the student has obtained 5 badges they will be invited to grade for their first belt, which will be based on the badges they have gained.  This makes the syllabus very personal to the student. After the next 5 badges the student progresses to the next grading/belt.

Juniors learn, amongst others, break-falls, throws, kicks, strikes, grappling techniques.  Due to the unsuitable nature of some traditional techniques, these are not taught to juniors, these include, control and restraint locks, weaponry and closed fist strikes.
